Mind as Dravya

ātmendriyārthasannikarṣe jñānasya bhāvo’bhāvaśca manaso liṅgam॥3.2.1॥

The ātman, the senses, and the meaning coming together, which leads to the presence or absence of a state, become the mind’s identifier. 3.2.1.

The mind requires the coming together of the ātman and the senses. This also implies access to the autobiographical memories of the individual.

tasya dravyatvanityatve vāyunā vyākhyāte ॥3.2.2॥

The substanceness and eternality of that are explained by [analogy with] vāyu. 3.2.2.
